Positive Choices by Everyone Regardless of Post Code Deserves Recognition!

We are a school community out in the Western regions of Melbourne. The community includes many diverse families from different types of socio-economic backgrounds. What truly brings us together are our school values. Every member of the Kings Park Primary School community agrees that we want to make our school a Safe, Respectful and Responsible place. Towards the end of COVID-19 and lockdowns, we found that many families were struggling through it and we were finding different ways to support them, especially in trying to provide a consistent routine and safe environment for students to learn in.
The years following the lockdown saw our teaching staff facing a large increase in challenging and disengaged behaviour from students due to the disruption they had faced in their lives through COVID-19. To address this, the school community has signed up to be a School Wide Positive Behaviour school — where positive behaviour is consistently acknowledged throughout school.
The first batch of LEGO received has already gone to some Prep families who have very quickly and early in the school term, demonstrated safe behaviour by lining up and walking around our corridors quietly. One student said, "This is the best day of my life!". We believe that by rewarding the students with prizes that many are unlikely to be able to have access to due to various constraints, we can both support our families while fostering a safe, respectful and responsible learning environment.
