Our staff definitely felt the Christmas spirit when they were creating these special hampers for expectant mothers. Thanks to generous donations from Good360 and our staff and volunteers through our 8-week 'Gift of Giving' campaign, we made hampers filled with essentials including nursing and maternity t-shirts, nappies, bottles, dummies, toiletries and wipes.
The rental crisis combined with the soaring cost of living has meant a steep increase in pregnant women and new mothers needing community assistance. We distributed the hampers to women in our communities and through SAHSSI, a not-for-profit Specialist Homelessness Service helping vulnerable women and families in the Shoalhaven.
Some hampers were also gifted to the Waminda Birthing on Country Program which provides holistic maternal, child and family health care that embeds cultural integrity and safety during pregnancy, labour, birth and postnatal care.
