Save the Reef Campaign

We ran our 'Choose the Reef, not Coal' campaign in Canberra to deliver our petition from over 32,000 supporters to the new Environment Minister. Our campaign is calling on the Minister, and the new government, to protect the Reef by ramping up action on climate change and committing to a phase-out plan for Australian coal mining and exports.

We used the Overalls ordered from Good360 for our volunteers to wear when creating this masterpiece - a huge coral garden of 300 coral cut- outs on the front lawn of Parliament House, Canberra to bring home to our elected representative what is at stake if we do not act fast enough on climate change. The Stationery items ordered from Good360 also assisted us in making the coral pieces. The coral was painted with UV paint so it glowed in the dark when illuminated by backlight. Due to overnight wind and rain, we had to reposition and repair the coral again the next day. It was wonderful to meet the dozen or so Canberra-based Greenpeace supporters who braved the rain to come out and help unfurl a banner reading 'Choose the Reef, not Coal'.
All of this - from getting the ideas and plan together, to making the coral pieces (much more intensive process than we first thought!) and delivering the event on the day - was only possible because of the hard work of many GP staff, activists and volunteers over the past few weeks. We are very grateful for the support of Good360, which enabled us to obtain products and materials as gifts in kind needed to create this masterpiece at a fraction of the price (nominal S&H).
